Ganz großartiges, neues Album der Damen Bluegrass-Band Della Mae und damit der Nachfolger zum Grammy-nominierten "This world oft can be", mit dem sie vor etwa 2 Jahren den ganz großen Durchbruch schafften. Doch eine reine Bluegrass-Band im absolut traditionellen Sinne sind sie nicht. Vielmehr interpretieren sie das Genre sehr progressiv. So bezeichnen sich die Mädels selbst auch als "an Americana band from Nashville/Tennessee". Della Mae spielen eine exzellente Mixtur aus Folk-, Roots-, Americana- und Country-Elementen, natürlich auf der Basis akustischer Instrumente wie Fiddle, Banjo, Mandoline,, Acoustic Bass und Acoutsic Guitars (bei einigen Stücken auch dezente Percussion). Sie sind herausragende Musikerinnen mit großartigen Gesangs-Performances (vor allem die angeraute Stimme von Celia Woodsmith ist große Klasse), die für ihr neues Album wieder einmal ganz vorzügliches, substanzielles, ungemein abwechslungsreiches Songmaterial kreiert haben. Alles wirkt sehr songorientiert. "Wilder" Hochgeschwindigkeits-Bluegrass ist den Mädels fremd. Enthält eine wunderbare, mit herrlicher Acoustic Slide Guitar verzierte Coverversion des alten Rolling Stones-Klassikers "No expectations". Della Mae mit einem tollen Album. Sie werden damit ihren Status, sowohl in der Bluegrass- und Country-Szene, als auch in der Americana-Szene weiter festigen.

The follow-up to their GRAMMY-nominated 2013 album, This World Oft Can Be, Della Mae's self-titled second release for Rounder finds the all-female combo delivering eleven compelling new tunes that embody the musical and emotional qualities of the group's prior output while venturing into uncharted creative territory.
